HomemadešŸŠCitrusšŸ‹ Body Butter

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian healthcare system, offers extensive knowledge on natural beauty and skin care. Naturally,Ā Indian women are huge on DIY natural skin care. As more and more of us are living a fast life and thus have little time to spend on making anything at home, we end up opting for unhealthy chemical laden skin & home care products that are both bad for us and the environment.

We at Assuwa have been experimenting with making natural homemade cosmetics, skincare and home care products for a while. Today we decided to make a batch of shea and mango body butter, as the cold pressed coconut oil we usually use hasn’t proven very effective due to the drastic drop in the temperature. This sweet smelling body butter is so moisturising and my sensitive skin is really fond of it. You can play with the amount of butter and oil to give it a consistency you prefer, but this one came out soft and creamy without being too dense and we love it!

Usually body butter recipes call for melting the ingredients using the double boiler method however, we didn’t want to cook the ingredients considering the possible loss of nutrients.

We use raw and unrefined butters and cold pressed organic oils whenever possible.Ā The ingredients we used in this recipe were: Shea Butter (1/4th cup), Mango Butter (1/4th cup), Coconut Oil (1/4th cup), Apricot Kernel Oil (1/4th cup), Vitamin E Oil (1/2 teaspoon), Sweet Orange Essential Oil (1/2 teaspoon), Bergamot Essential Oil (1/2 teaspoon).

To make this body butter, we added all the ingredients in a glass bowl and whipped it using an electric hand mixer for about 5-6 minutes. Honestly you all, this refreshing body cream smells heavenly and is so amazing, you might never buy moisturiser again!
